Supermoon November 2016
Supermoon November 2016 rising over Mt, Dandenong Victoria
LOCATION - THE BASIN ROUNDABOUT
Since forever I have loved the moon. 'I see the moon shining bright, the stars.. come out at night'
Tonight's digital photography class Part 3 (we postponed the topic of Macro) and decided to go for a walk up the road to The Basin roundabout and wait for the moon... waited we did until 8.30pm as we were getting eaten alive by mozzies ..even through our clothes. These moments are driven by our determination to capture the Moon at it's brightest in 70yrs! So we decided to head back to The Basin Community House to have a cuppa. It was 9.30pm and still no moon in sight from our point of view, as the moon is rising behind the mountain.. Mt. Dandenong. I was glad to have my 75 - 300mm #canonlens - I have been waiting in anticipation to try this lens out with the moon. So, we all departed our own ways, as I drove up to the roundabout .. BOOM there was the bright cloud behind Mt. Dandenong.. so I pulled over at the roundabout immediately!
There was a couple waiting in their car for the moon to rise above the mountain. I made conversation with them and they too had been waiting for the #supermoon, and I was so pleased to this time be prepared to capture it!
So, Camera, Tripod, Zoom Lens in hand .. I was so THRILLED to experience the moon rising.. it rose FAST .. right before my eyes. It was tricky to manage the exposure settings, from a faster to slower shutter speed to capture the detail 1/50 was a good exposure time when no cloud was in front. I have made this video as this is quite a significant moment in time. .! Thank you Emma Wiles for the snaps of me, and Bastian Jamie Killjoy for writing this track in the middle of the night to accompany the visual journey ... !
Happy Super Moon Rejoice!
